-::Lagoa Vermelha::-
The month of January ended with an excursion to Lagoa Vermelha, which is located approximately six hours from Esteio. Let me not forget to mention, six hours of mountainous driving. Turning this way then that way – it can do a great number of motion sickness if you are inclined to having this difficulty. Despite the warm weather, 28 happy campers left Esteio at 6:30 in the morning ready for a fun day!

After stopping a couple of times to allow our legs to stretch, we arrived at the church in Lagoa Vermelha. Pastor Jacob and his wife were happy to see all of us and invited us to a meal that the pastors’ wives from the surrounding area had cooked. Delicious is one word to describe it! A large spread of various foods and deserts was gladly accepted by all.

Following this excellent meal, the men remained at the dining hall for a “pastors” meeting and the ladies made their way to church for a ladies meeting. This was a time when honor was given to whom honor was due. Many of the ladies honored Sis. Nara L. for her hard work to which we can all say “AMEN”. Everywhere Sis. Nara Lambeth goes, she is always trying to help build unity and a relationship between the ladies of the various areas she visits. She has a group called “AMAI” (LOVE). Such was the case here, as the ladies listened, Sis. Nara L. poured out her heart and left the ladies of the Apostolic Church of Brazil encouraged once again.

Everyone gathered at the church around 4:30p.m. to have service. As the saints of God worshipped and gave HIM the praise due HIS name, two wills met! The Esteio choir sang about the “faithfulness” of God. There was something in that song that God liked. As the mind of God flowed through the sanctuary, saints and sinners alike were blessed as the presence of God overwhelmed their soul. It was a time of refreshing for us all!

After service we enjoyed fellowship and food outside the church only to come to the realization that it was time to leave. Around 7:00p.m. we headed back to the bus for the long ride home. You can be assured that we left Lagoa Vermelha with a peg in the wall - something that we can go back to as a confirmation of the faithfulness of God and a fresh craving for more of HIM. What a day to remember! |
